Bruce Cupcake™

How do you say Koepka? Kep-ka. Not too hard, right? But if it’s a name you’ve hardly seen, it can be hard to say phonetically.

The first-tee announcer at the Waste Management Phoenix Open failed miserably in trying to announce Brooks Koepka’s name on Sunday, apparently calling him “Brooks Cupcake.” “Bruce Cupcake” was born from the fact he’s still accidentally called Bruce by fans during tournaments and many fans still remember the “cupcake” name from 2015. In the end Brooks had the last laugh winning the 2015 Phoenix Open and capturing his first PGA Tour win.

To do this day he is still often referred to as “Bruce Cupcake”, even after ranking World No. 1 for 38 weeks.

Before the start of round 2 of the 2022 Farmer’s Insurance Open the tee announcer misspoke calling him “Bruce” and as you can see Brooks has continued laughing this off.

The PGA Tour’s official TikTok account had fun with the latest name blunder referencing the times this has happened before.
